By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone, In Christ Alone!

Updated: Mar 23

Jesus once said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

according to Jesus, pridefully justifying ourselves according to our own imagined standard of goodness will never bring us to heaven. This includes all man-made religions...which are all based on good works. So what's wrong with good works one might ask? Nothing. Good works are in fact... good! But when measured by a perfect and holy God, my best efforts will always fall short. You see, the 10 Commandments are called, "the moral law," and you and I have broken that moral law. Therefore, since God is a perfect judge, he must do what any good judge would do, and hold the law breaker accountable. Thus, "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

But according to the Bible, God is also rich in mercy! So how does he give us justice AND mercy at the same time? Jesus is the answer!

We broke God's Law, but Jesus paid the fine. Just as someone can enter a courtroom and pay the fine you can't afford, allowing you to go free, Jesus satisfied God's justice by paying for our sins with his own life, at the Cross. And this my friend is the truth that sets us free!
